Business Development Program

The Business Development Program of the Foods For Health Institute is working to bridge the ‘gap of death’ between scientific discovery and translation to commercial products and services that benefit consumers. The Scientific Programs and Projects of the FFHI use a multi-disciplinary parallel translational model to accelerate translation. We do not consider science successful until it is in practice, in the marketplace, changing the health of individuals. To achieve this goal, we use two distinct strategies. Where possible, we work with industrial partners to use their existing infrastructures to propel ideas to practice. Where ideas or concepts are so novel, no industry exists to carry them forward, we work with the Center for Entrepreneurship and its Entrepreneurship Academies to launch scientific discoveries into new ventures taking advantage of the regional investment community to climb the steep slope of start-up to successful enterprise.
