Lorna De Leoz is a doctoral candidate in Chemistry and a former Foods for Health Institute researcher. Her work was highlighted in UC Davis Magazine for bridging the gap between the lab and the marketplace.

As a doctoral candidate in Chemistry, Lorna De Leoz develops technology to diagnose infants and children with potentially fatal diseases. In 2010, she and other students won the "People's Choice" Prize in UC Davis' Big Bang! competition for their company Pedianostics. Their firm offers a platform technology to develop rapid, and more accurate, diagnostic tests to monitor diseases in children, thereby enabling better treatment.

De Leoz's accomplishments were recently highlighted in the spring 2012 UC Davis Magazine as a student entrepreneur, and her work at the Food and Health Entrepreneurship Academy is discussed in this short video.
