Research Consortia
The FFHI Research Consortia (under development) allows industry partners to actively give input about the direction of research at the FFHI and participate in the research itself. This is accomplished by providing the partner a position on an advisory board to the Research Consortia. Research Consortia members wanting to also join the Corporate Affiliate Program will be given a yearly membership fee rate reduction for that program of 50% (ie $20,000, $10,000 and $5,000). Yearly member fees and benefits for the research Consortia are below. As currently envisioned the University overhead rates for this program will be 20%.
Research Consortia Member: $60,000
- Input into Research Consortia Projects: Member Companies will be given a position on an advisory board to the Research Consortia. The FFHI carries out multidisciplinary research projects. Company input is sought in the selection and prioritization of these research projects. Company input is critical in maintaining a Research Consortia that is industry relevant, cutting-edge and high impact.
- Leverage: All FFHI Research Consortia member companies are given the ability to leverage their member dues in several ways:
- Members gain access to a research program that is much greater than their yearly contribution.
- Financial match on funds will be sought when industry partner is eligible. This occurs when the FFHI multidisciplinary research projects are proposed to a State matching grant program.
- Research is accomplished by exceptional PhD students whose financial support is less than professional employees.
- Semi-Annual Research Consortia Review: Twice a year the FFHI will host a review of FFHI research consortia related activities and research interests. This will include research updates from consortia professors, PhD researchers and post-doctoral scientists. Member companies are invited to participate.
- Annual Research Consortia Progress Report: Written progress reports will be prepared annually for all research consortia supported projects. The major professors, PhD students and post-doctoral researchers will contribute to these reports.
- Student Recruitment: Through their involvement in FFHI activities members are given wide exposure to our students. In addition, assistance in identification of students for potential employment and participation in the student recruitment/showcase session at the semi-annual FFHI research consortia conference will be given.
- Research Consortia Speakers: Member companies will have the opportunity to build relationships with our faculty. These relationships can be used as needed by member companies to communicate with faculty directly to answer questions, or on technical issues. In addition, the FFHI will assist in consultation and identification of one FFHI research consortia speaker/yr to give a presentation to the industry partner at a site of interest to the partner. The industry partner is responsible for speaker travel expenses; the FFHI is responsible for speaker time and honorarium.
- Visiting Scholars Program: Each member company will receive assistance in arranging for visiting scholars from industry partner to a FFHI associated research unit. These visitors can be in residence for up to one year and will be integrated into a research team while working under the leadership of a FFHI professor.
- Website: We maintain a convenient website for member companies where they can access:
- The presentation materials and videos of all Consortia annual research reviews.
- The research publications by all FFHI research consortia professors and graduate students.
- The annual progress reports on all FFHI research consortia projects.
- Newsletters: Member companies will have web access to the latest news from the FFHI. A quarterly newsletter will be available via the member's only website.
- Research Consortia Faculty Bio Book: FFHI Faculty Bio and Research Interests (web access)
- Research Consortia Student Bio Book: FFHI Student Bio and Research Interests (web access)
- Research Consortia Publications and Reports: Publication and Research Report dissemination. Partners will be provided with notice of publications and research reports. They can request reprints of these free of charge.
