Assistant Professor, Biosensors

The Departments of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science and Food Science and Technology are currently seeking to fill a tenure track, assistant professor position. Candidates with expertise in biochemical engineering, biomaterials, biophotonics, food engineering, biochemistry, or a related field are strongly encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to health, nutrition, and food production studied and improved by cutting-edge methods in nano- and micro- biosystems such as, but not limited to biosensor and micro-array technology. This position was created as part of the "Foods for Health" Initiative, a campus-wide initiative focusing on cross-disciplinary research on food production, nutrition and health. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an internationally recognized, independent, and funded research program which is consistent with the missions of the College of Engineering and the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences and its associated Agricultural Experiment Station. Applicants are expected hold a Ph.D. in a relevant area, teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels, train and supervise students, and collaborate with established programs within the Departments and the University.

was recently published in Nature for his exciting new research!  The new study shows that there is a point at which an increased electrical field actually keeps droplets from coalescing.

These surprising findings, published in the Sept. 17 issue of the journal Nature, could lead to improved applications in diverse fields including microchip manufacturing, biofuel and crude oil purification, and food oil processing. The research also increases our understanding of atmospheric conduction.  Link to article...
