Assistant Professor, Nutritional Toxicology & Metabolomics
The Departments of Environmental Toxicology and Nutrition seek applicants for an Assistant Professor of Nutritional Toxicology and Metabolomics. We seek an outstanding applicant with a Ph.D. degree, or equivalent, relevant to Nutrition and Toxicology applications. The appointee is expected to develop an extramurally funded research program in metabolism, with potential research in areas such as metabolic flux and pattern analysis. In addition to research, the successful candidate will be expected to be involved with outreach efforts, consistent with the missions of the Agricultural Experiment Station. The candidate must display strong analytical and quantitative skills relevant to the emphasis in metabolomics. Experience in state-of-art product separation and detection methodologies (e.g. NMR, Mass spectrometry, electrochemical detection, and/or other novel high throughput platforms) is an expectation of the position. The position has requirements for teaching, research, and university and public service. The successful candidate will occupy a key position in the new University-wide, multi-disciplinary program (UC Davis Foods for Health Institute), whose aim is to understand the relationships between foods and food intake and human health (see http://ffhi.ucdavis.edu for more information). The appointment is a nine month tenure track appointment; however an eleven-month term appointment will be offered, and continued, based on academic personnel review.
Applicants should submit online at http://ffh.recruitments.ucdavis.edu a letter of application, curriculum vitae (including list of publications), copies of up to three relevant publications, statement of research and teaching interests, and names and contact information of at least four references. The position is open until filled; but to assure full consideration, online applications should be submitted no later than November 28, 2008, for a targeted start date of July 1, 2009. Inquiries should be directed to Michael Denison, Department of Environmental Toxicology, msdenison@ucdavis.edu.
