Dr. Jaehan Kim, a Senior Scientist in the Mills Lab, came to Davis from Korea to pursue his PhD in Food Science. At that time met his wife, Dr. Hyun Ju An, who was pursuing a PhD in Chemistry. Several years later, they have two children and are both Senior Scientists; Dr. Kim in the Mills Lab, and Dr. An in the Lebrilla Lab. Dr. Kim recently published a paper in the prestigious journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America.

NSF Fellowship Has Milk Bioactives Program Student Dreaming Big
Dave Dallas, a graduate student in the German Lab working on a new project of the Milk Bioactives and Children’s Health Programs, recently received an NSF fellowship. The fellowship will provide 3 years of funding for a project that span across multiple disciplines with the goal of studying milk digestion in premature infants.

David Sela, a recent graduate of the Milk Bioactives and Functional Glycobiology Programs, in David Mills’ Lab in the department of Viticulture and Enology, has recently been awarded the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Kinsella Prize for his doctoral dissertation. A review paper on the same topic, the molecular and evolutionary linkage between breast milk composition and infant gut microbiota, has recently graced the cover of Trends in Microbiology (July 2010).
