Lunch, Love, Community Event May 24

Lunch Love Community is a mosaic of short documentary films by Helen De Michiel and Sophie Constantinou that explores the Berkeley Unified School District’s long journey down the road towards creating a healthy and sustainable school nutrition program. The filmmakers ask, How are local citizens transforming food systems? What happens when parents shape their vision into policy and a movement? How are food innovators changing the way children eat and rocking education reform? The event is a media social with films and a lively discussion with the filmmakers and special guests, blending together an emulsion of films, expert speakers and interactive dialogue to generate new ideas for the future of food, education and health.
<p>Berkeley and Davis have much in common as pioneering leaders in the school food reform movement sweeping the country. The filmmakers will engage participants in a conversation around questions like: how is school lunch reform evolving? Can community advocates find common ground with food science and industry? What are the challenges and opportunities for the next generation of advocates and professionals?
